How to Change the Battery in Your Plantronics CS540 Wireless Headset

July 12th, 2017  •   0 Comments

The Plantronics CS540 is a convertible wireless headset that offers 3 different, comfortable wearing styles. Wireless headsets are a convenient way to handle phone calls either at your desk or away from it. Typically, with every day use, wireless headsets can be used for 2-3 years with no problems; however, after that time, you may experience difficulties on your calls due to a degraded battery. Warning signs that your battery is low: If you are on a call and the headset battery is critically low, you will hear a repeated single low tone every 15 seconds indicating that the battery is low. You should recharge the headset immediately. If you are not on a call and press the call control button, you will hear three low tones if the battery is critically low. You should recharge the headset immediately.

If after long use you notice that a fully charged battery is no longer lasting long enough, you can replace the battery, with no tools required! Simply purchase the spare battery for the CS540 headset here CS540 Replacement Battery and then follow these quick steps:

Step 1:

Slide the battery cover off and remove it from the headset.

Step 2:

Pull the battery out of the attachment clips. There is one on each side of the battery, which holds ("clips") the battery securely into place.

Step 3:

Grasp the battery connector (the tiny white square piece) and disconnect from the headset.

Step 4:

Plug the new battery connector into the battery port of the headset.

Step 5:

Once connected, slide the battery into place.

Step 6:

Slide the cover back on and push it into place.

Coincidentally, we noticed that the earpiece pivots on the CS540 for a customized fit. When you hold the base of the headset, push it in and back toward your ear to allow the pivoting earpiece to bring the microphone close to your mouth. As the base of the headset moves backwards, you will feel soft clicks until the microphone rests close to your cheek.

Are you experiencing a loss of talk time, a degradation of call quality, or other issue with your wireless headset? You may just need a new battery! Which Wireless Headsets Have Field-Replaceable Batteries?

May 2nd, 2017  •   0 Comments

Wireless headsets are one of the most important tools on your desk at work. The ability to multitask is a requirement today, as phone calls and simultaneous computer data entry are a must for most jobs. When you consider the need for quick team collaboration or consultation, access to the local printer, or the capability to simply get up and stretch, everyone should have a wireless headset.

Wireless headsets connect to desk phones, PCs and smart phones/tablets. Many even offer numerous connection points, eliminating the need for multiple headsets. They come with a variety of wearing styles, and of course, a variety of price ranges. The most economic headset may not be the right headset for your needs, so it's important to think through the use of the headset, the environment where it will be used, and more.

One of the best features of a wireless headset we believe is the convenience of changing the battery. When we refer to a “field replaceable battery” we mean one that you, as the user, can change out yourself. It does not require the entire headset piece to be sent into the manufacturer for replacement. Why is this important? After about 2 years, the battery will degrade and you may notice a decrease in its talk time. You may also experience staticky calls, a microphone that won't "talk" anymore, or calls that drop for no reason. These are just some of the scenarios that could be battery-related, and are definitely worth checking into.

The cost of a replacement battery runs anywhere from $15-$35, depending upon the brand and model of your headset.

Here’s a quick reference to help guide you to the correct replacement battery for your wireless headset.

Can I Change the Battery in my Bluetooth Headset? and Other Frequently Asked Questions

December 16th, 2016  •   0 Comments

1. My favorite Bluetooth headset loses power quickly and the headset "dies" in the middle of a conversation. Can I replace the battery?

Typically, batteries cannot be replaced in Bluetooth headsets; however, this is dependent upon the headset you’re using. Contact us and we can help determine if a replacement battery is available for your BlueParrott, Jabra, Plantronics, Sennheiser or VXi headset.

2. The ear hook that came with my Bluetooth headset has been lost. Are there replacement ear hooks* available? *Or: ear gels, power cords, connection cables etc.

Yes, we have lots of accessories for your Bluetooth headset. Simply find your headset by using the “Search” bar on our web site, find your headset, and click on the product listing. Once there, select the “Accessories” tab at the bottom of the product page. A complete list of available accessories will be displayed. If your headset has been discontinued, don’t despair! We have accessories for some older model headsets – simply give us a call (866-998-9991) and we can help.

3. How do I pair my Bluetooth headset with a smart phone or tablet?

No matter which device you’re using, you will need to enable Bluetooth in the Settings menu of your device and your headset will need to be powered “on” and be placed in pairing mode. That way, the headset and phone/tablet can communicate and connect (or, pair). Follow the prompts on the smart phone/tablet and pairing is complete.

NFC (Near Field Communication) pairing is also available for some phones, and headsets. Contact us for additional help with pairing/connecting your Bluetooth headset to your smart device.

4. Is there a way to change the wearing style of my Bluetooth headset?

This is dependent upon the headset that you choose. Some headsets offer a choice in wearing styles; while others may have an add-on piece that can be purchased.

5. Can I use my Bluetooth headset with my laptop/PC?

Yes, provided you have a UC version of the headset. In plain English, a “UC version” is enabled to connect to a PC/laptop via the included Bluetooth dongle that will plug into your laptop/PC via USB. The dongle must be paired to the headset out of the box. Contact us to ensure you have a UC headset.

Bluetooth headsets are incredibly useful, and more intelligent than ever, with voice activated commands in some models. When you have the right tools, taking and making calls, listening to music, and participating in webinars become second nature. Take advantage of these headsets to streamline your work and life! And with all of the wearing options available, the right headset is just waiting for you.

Contact us at 1-866-998-9991 and we can determine the best Bluetooth headset for your needs.

November 5th, 2013  •   0 Comments

*The Jabra PRO 9400 series headsets are discontinued, and so are the replacement batteries. The replacement headset information can be found here.

One great feature of the Jabra PRO 9400 series wireless headsets is that the battery can be easily replaced, extending the life of your headset for years.

Your Jabra Direct software loads the Jabra Control Center to your computer, allowing you to manage all of your Jabra devices in Jabra Direct. It is also a quick way to check your battery level. After having used your headset for about 2 years, you may start experiencing some unusual things (one-sided conversations, headset doesn't keep a charge, degraded sound quality) that more often than not, can be fixed by a simple battery replacement. For under $20, and in less than 3 minutes, you can change the battery in your PRO 9400 headset and be on your way to complete wireless freedom once again.*

Step 1. Remove the headband, ear hook or neck band from the headset. You will apply firm pressure to both pieces and pull them apart.

Step 2. Using the included torque screwdriver, remove the 3 screws from the headset cover.

Step 3. Now you're ready to replace the battery.

Step 4. Remove the battery from the speaker, by simply pulling it straight out. Replace with the new battery.

Step 5. Reverse your steps and put everything back together.

After completing your task, you may just want to brag to co-workers about how handy you are! (Or not, as you could become the official headset battery changer in the office!)

*Jabra recommends charging the battery for four hours on the headset base before using the headset.
